Sometimes I think civilization’s eventual doom will come through the fact that accountability, when it comes at all, often comes much too late. Unfortunately, zeroing in on truth & handing down good judgements takes time.

No doubt there are some people who feel this is good. That somehow there are “good things” that “need to be done” that things like reason & ethics get in the way of. Even if that were true, I’d much rather constrain & delay the smart & noble leaders than to give free reign to the evil or incompetent ones.
