Was Spock always meant to be half-human?

In the second pilot, Where no man has gone before, Spock says: “...one of my ancestors is human...”
From the first season episode, The Corbomite Maneuver: “On the contrary; she considered herself a most fortunate Earth woman.”
Spock's mother & father first appear in the second season episode, Journey to Babel.

Self-parody

According to the Wikipedia article, Gene Coon wrote the script for Spock’s Brain as a parody of Gene Roddenberry’s idea of science-fiction. Coon never expected it would actually be produced!

Green, not gold

The command division uniforms were actually green, although they tend to appear gold on screen.
