Since infogami has been abandoned by its creators, I’m out too. Back to web.fisher.cx for me. Everything that was here is there.

Mac OS X code names

The code names for releases of Mac OS X are cool. (I was telling them they should use more code names as official names since OS/2 Warp came out. I would've been much more excited about buying a Macintosh Cold Fusion than a Power Macintosh 8100/80.) Unfortunately, although many people use the names instead of the version numbers, Mac OS X only want to identify itself by it's version number.

The uname -a command only reports the Darwin version number.

  • 10.5 Leopard
  • 10.4 Tiger, Darwin 8.0–8.7 (Snow White & Bilbo)
  • 10.3 Panther, Darwin 7.0–7.9 (eMac)
  • 10.2 Jaguar, Darwin 6.0–6.8
  • 10.1 Puma, Darwin 1.4.1–5.5
  • 10.0 Cheetah, Darwin 1.3.1

(The names in parentheses are the names of my machines running that release.)
